This is one fine morning in the Big Easy! The sky is clear and the sun is out strong. It is about 78 degrees outside, which would probably feel like spring weather to people who live east and north of the Deep South.
We don’t think it is spring weather; we know it is spring weather. By now, the middle of February, the heat has started to rise out of the swamps. It is this very heat that caused me to order a pair of red Crocs from Zappos. The Crocs should arrive today!
I plan to wear them while sitting outside on the patio. There is a laptop stand that I have my eye on, and it will fit in quite well with my patio umbrella and table, which I picked up at a garage sale for ten American bucks, and my patio chair and my new red Crocs.
The distinct advantage of this online teaching is that by March I can work outside on my patio until I decide to get up, hail a taxi and fly to another destination.
A friend of mine who is currently living in one of the western states that receives six to twelve inches of show daily during this time of year discusses with me the current economic landscape in America. We both agree that it will all end in tears if we do not continue to pursue income streams that are not connected to what we do everyday for money.
I’ve come to understand that online teaching in its various forms and configurations is a collection of income streams, and that engaging in the active pursuit of classes to teach online helps me imagine of other forms of income that can be generated by participating in the Internet.
I find it to be a very interesting thing that I can support myself quite nicely while sitting under a patio umbrella in the sub-tropics while wearing a pair of new red Crocs.
All in all, as the man said, this isn’t a bad way to go.

I have an air desk - been using it for over a year and I love it. The base is heavy so it's not something that's very portable. But it fits great beside the recliner, which has been my "office" ever since I got the air desk :)
Thanks for the tip, virtualprof! I am so looking forward to teaching this summer from a chaise lounge.
Yeah that works :-) I'm looking forward to March when our campground is open again during the week (we keep our RV parked at a resort campground so we don't have to spend $$ on diesel towing it back and forth every weekend). Sometimes I'll stay there a week by myself (well, with the dogs) and no distractions. I spend a lot of time outside working -- somehow that just doesn't seem like working, ya know?
